UH Maui College provides educational opportunities for high school aged students through our special Early Admissions Programs. These programs allow students to earn college credits while attending high school. The goal of Early Admissions is to help students save time and money, and prepare them for the rigor of college coursework.

Graduates participating in dual credit are more likely than non-participants to enroll in college within 6 years of completing high school and earn a college award.
NOTE: These values are for the Class of 2015 – Class of 2021 pooled together.

The portion of graduates that enrolled in college within 6 years of completing high school is 89% for dual credit graduates compared to 66% for non-dual credit graduates.

Derek Snyder

Associate Professor of English

Derek has been teaching in the University of Hawaiʻi system since 2002, and dual enrollment courses on Maui since 2010. Taking dual enrollment courses is an excellent way to begin your higher education journey. The opportunity to enroll in college courses while still in high school helps students build early confidence and comfort with the expectations of college.
